First of all before I get started in today’s post, I will apologize for the silence over the last 2-3 weeks. First off, as you know – I was on vacation in Denmark, so that explains 2 weeks and the other week it has been very hectic getting back, settling down and editing some pages on this site, so that’s why there’s been no posts.

Now, we’re making it easier to choose accommodation when you travel to Orlando, because we’re providing more details and more photos of hotels/resorts in Orlando, so you can see more clearly what hotels look like. We understand that a picture and one paragraph isn’t enough information, that’s why we’re giving more detailed photos of the hotels, so it’s easier to choose.

This has started taking place now, and you can see it already on Disney’s 3 Star Resorts (or Value resorts) page. This will roll out and expand onto all the hotel pages on every single hotel/resort on this site. Below, you can see what it looks like on the page.

It’s currently only on this page, but will be on all of the hotels in the future.

In future, we’re also planning to give a link to the Tripadvisor ratings of that resort so you can see what other people have to say that have stayed there.

So, that’s all for this post, but I shall inform you about some cool stuff coming up in 2011 in the parks in the next post, so please – stay tuned for that.

Before you start getting panicked and worked up, I am not going for good. I’m going on a vacation to Denmark for around 14 days tomorrow (4:30 am wakeup)! So don’t expect any action as far as new posts and pages are concerned. I will be updating my Twitter when in Wi-fi zones and when I have time (hopefully!) but it won’t be a constant stream, (in other words, expect VERY little from me!)

And yes, the Tumblr is going. I am not planning on deleting it, but I will not be using it no longer, so the post before this bares no relation to this one. It just wasn’t right for the site. It’s a fair enough tool, but it’s more of a ‘micro-blog’ not a blog extension, and I don’t really call it a ‘Social network’ as such, like Twitter and Facebook, more of a blogging platform, if a small one at that.

So, this is just to tell you, incase you get in desperate need of posts/page updates, I am sorry. Feel free to browse the archives if you feel your missing your dose of theorlandoguide.net.

If you haven’t noticed yet by the little Tumblr icon in the website sidebar, The Orlando Guide now has a Tumblr! Yeah, in case you don’t know what a Tumblr is (I didn’t at first), it’s basically a small, simple blogging service where you can post small updates and things you like. There are a few cool features like the ‘like’ or my favorite, the ‘re-blog’ one, and I will be re-blogging many Tumblr Orlando things! Click here to check it out!

It’s called ‘Totally Orlando’ as it’s dedicated to everything Orlando, of course! It’s got re-blogs of pictures from the parks, Orlando and loads more! Definetly worth checking out, be sure to follow our Tumblr and let us know what you think by commenting! You can either click here or click on the small icon in the sidebar (with the dark blue background and silver ‘t’).

In other news… some of your ideas about improvements/future ideas for The Orlando Guide are either done or in progress! Thanks to many people including John for his idea on the Tumblr and the weather widget, and also to Josie who contacted me on Twitter, for her idea about ride videos (that work is in progress, and is being expanded to resorts too!)

If your reading this, then you’ll obviously know that this isn’t on the first page you see when visiting The Orlando Guide! Yeah, we’ve got our own official homepage now (not just blog posts) which is cool, you’ll now be greeted with some lovely welcome text and a palm tree (if your reading this within short time of this being published, the text and palm are not yet there), and to access this, you’ll have to visit the ‘Blog’ tab in the navigator bar.

I think it neatens up the whole thing, and now there’s a nice welcome message when you visit the site, and if you wish to view the blog posts, you can by pressing ‘Blog’. All neatend up, nice.

So, with the ‘Blog’ category (or tab) section appearing in the navigator bar, we had to say goodbye to the ‘Other’ section, or for the posh the ‘miscellaneous’ section (although ‘other’ is shorter to fit in, and easier to spell/say). You can find most of ‘Other’s offspring pages in little blue tabs in the sidebar (a couple aren’t there, and have been removed or are hidden).

Speaking of sidebars, the sidebars has had a rearranging! Things are in new places, there are also new sidebar headers looking wonderful, and there’s been some new additions! Take a short while to see what’s new.

We may be a thorough Orlando information site, but we always need ideas from you guys!

You can submit as many as you like, it’s not a competition and there’s no ‘winning idea’, we might just take some ideas and add them to our own, or use your idea, we might not use any, or in a different way, but just some small ideas would be helpful.
